Welcome Back 2022 — LIANNE TODD

It’s that time of year again! I will be participating once again in our annual studio tour this weekend. Details are available at http://www.welcomebacktootterville.ca, or you can rely on what I’ve posted here and pick up a postcard when you arrive at my gallery. The postcards look like this and have a map and list […]

The above is from my other website and blog, inviting all interested parties to join us this weekend for our annual studio tour.

Oxford Studio Tour 2022 coming up!

I am pleased to let you know we are indeed holding our Oxford Studio Tour this year, after a 2 year hiatus. It will be on April 30 and May 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Information can be found at the tour’s website, oxfordstudiotour.ca, as usual. We all have lots of art to show you, and you can have fun with your family or close friends driving around Oxford County to see it.  Maybe you’ll want to have a chat with some of the artists, or even purchase an original piece for that spot in your surroundings you wish had a little something special.

Here I am with a couple of my original pieces:

I look forward to welcoming you at my home studio/gallery location, which is Location #3 on the tour, in Otterville. Red signs will direct you to tour locations. If you need a map, they are available at the website. For a brochure, you may contact me to mail you one, or just pick a location to start at – all artists will have some available.

Welcome Back to Otterville this weekend

One of my favourite things about opening my gallery for studio tours is the interaction with people who are seeing my fractal art for the first time.  It’s definitely not the same as viewing it online, partly because of the image resolution and detail and size, and partly because of the metal and acrylic surfaces I usually print on.  And for the paintings, the size and the detail provide even more of a difference from what you’ll see here on my website.

But the best part is introducing some to the entire concept of fractals.  If you missed the fun of reading my blog from the very start, back in 2014, and you don’t have a way to come this weekend to see them, I am linking you back to that first post here.

I would love for you to come and visit my gallery this weekend so I can share with you the joy and wonder I feel about creating vivid reflections of nature with both paint and with mathematics.

Just come to Otterville and look for the yellow flags – we welcome you!

Studio Tour coming up!

I posted at length about our ‘Welcome Back to Otterville’ studio tour yesterday on my watercolours blog, and I wanted to make sure everyone who subscribes to this one knows about it too.  There is a press release contained within that blog post, if any local journalists would care to deliver our story to their reading public.

This is our 21st annual tour (the 12th one I have lived here for), and every year it is slightly different.  The tour was founded by my good friend Sue Goossens, pictured here with me.  As you can see, she is also a very talented watercolour artist.  Our website is www.welcomebacktootterville.ca, if you’d like to see who else is on the tour.  If you are unfamiliar with my art, you may also see a good sampling of it here, and here.

I hope to see you here in Otterville, Ontario on November 18 & 19, from 10 to 5 pm.  It would make a great, stress-free day-trip for anyone in the area of London, Stratford, Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, Hamilton, Simcoe, St. Thomas, and all points in between or south to the lake.  Look for the yellow flags, and I’ll be waiting in my gallery with some hot cranberry wassail!

Oxford Studio Tour coming up!

It’s April, and that means it is almost time for our annual Oxford Studio Tour here in Oxford County, Ontario.  My studio has been one of the locations for this tour since its inception nine years ago (I also look after the website and some other stuff!).  I will have plenty of work here for visitors to see.   If you’ve never been out on the tour, it is a great way to celebrate spring, which I am hoping is right around the corner… here is a view out my front window yesterday:

So yeah, we’re not quite there yet.  But the daffodils in my back yard are really trying to bloom.  The ones out front are a little slower but they are hopeful.  Here is a painting I did of the ones out front a few years ago – it’s still available, along with several other watercolours in a variety of styles:

One of the newer fractals that I showed at our recent Artists of Oxford show at Ingersoll Creative Arts Centre, is Diaphanous.  It will be here for the studio tour, along with some other new pieces.  I will even have a couple of Artifact scarves available for purchase.

I hope if you live in the region, you’ll grab a friend or three, hop in the car, and make a day of it.  There is a ton of talent to see on this tour, as well as a lot of lovely countryside, and I especially hope you’ll make it out to my location, #6, at the south end of the county.  Here is a google map of the whole tour.

Keep an eye out for our red posters advertising the tour around the region, and our printed brochures designed by artist and graphic designer Rhonda Franks (she’s at location #7 along with Sue Goossens, who is the founder for the tour).  The brochures include descriptions and maps to help guide you around the tour.  If you’d like me to mail you a brochure, please contact me!
